So, here’s my first blog post using WordPress, which is actually my second blog post. It’s complicated. Anyway, onward.
So what else might someone want to use on a website, beside WordPress? Well, it would seem to me, many people would want an easy and central method of maintaining their web presence.
The elephant in the room is cPanel. However, the smart shopper may want to look around a little for cPanel alternatives, as cPanel cannot be removed from a system once installed. The cost of cPanel may be more than some companies are willing to fork out. There are other solutions, of course. A world of solutions which are limited only by one’s imagination.
So, let’s install cPanel, and play around with it. then I’ll walk you thru removing cPanel without losing the WordPress website. So, basically, I’m cheating. I’ve installed WordPress, and created a back up, where the normal procedure would be to install cPanel and then use cPanel to add all the other functionality.
Now, it’s true installing cPanel and then all the other feature of the server would be very hard to migrate to some other system. But it is possible, I think. It should not be a problem for the WordPress part, as I pre-installed it. I will see what other features I can add while inside cPanel, and then try to migrate that and WordPress to let’s say VirtualMin.
So, we’ll see what is involved. We will see what is feasible, and lastly what is the effort in doing so.
